V2 uses a set of adaptive mapping tables to learn the distillation transformations. The architecture is adopted from Dalt-NET. However, it ended up inheriting the same problems as the old algorithm even with better data, which is now revealed to be the case. There are too many learnable parameters, and we have an entirely redundant color dimension (luminance). This algorithm produces natural, minimally modified images but does not create effective contrast or salience.
